. . . just so you know . . .  if we could get Qantas FF on the Darth Vadar balloon it would be our preferred mode of travel  . .  and if we absolutely had to go camping it would be in this slice of summertime goodness!

Melbourne Saturday InDesign – Confetti Kids

An inspiration fact finding and foraging mission found The Collaborative in Melbourne at Saturday InDesign last month. The Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane multi-state event is now firmly marked in our calendar as a MUST GO giving us the opportunity for behind the scene insights into some of Australia’s hottest design studios and showrooms. A pop into Signature Floors found us giggling in a cloud of confetti – FUN! www.saturdayindesign.com.au

Crazy for Frida & Festive Cantina’s

Two completely different takes on a country synonymous with passion and saturated colour – MEXICO. With boundless inspiration and endless possibilities we have put together two delicious mood(y) boards – one stylish and one completely over-the-top. We look forward to bringing this spirit alive at your next event – VIVA LA MEXICO!

Crazy for Frida

This is the grown up take inspired by Mexico’s leading lady, Frida Kahlo, and a colour palette of blue, green and fuchsia hues. Over scaled entrance doors, textural paint finishes, stone fountains, daring sculptural installations of cacti and succulents, stunning blooms and delightful lighting treatments, combine to create a sophisticated interior for a cocktail or sit-down event.

Festive Cantina’s

Embrace the fabulous and kitsch and create an over-the-top space exploding with iridescent colour. Perfect for a cocktail party, this take uses vibrant layers of colour and texture, inspired installations of Mexican tin art, hanging gardens created using food tins filled with flora and plants, corn cob stools and divine paper flags. For the bold and the brave add “Day of the Dead” embellishments to the above. Embolden your guests with sense of fun the minute they walk through the door!

Monster Cantina

The Monster Cantina, a kooky purpose built event and promotional truck, would be a fun addition to any Mexican inspired party scene! www.monstercantina.com

Case Study: Brilliant Blue

There’s nothing quite like entertaining your special clients and guests on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour.

Collaborating with industry leading graphic designers, fabric designers and printers, the team at The Collaborative set about designing and producing a spectacular and distinctly Australian event for over 150 international investors.

The result was a sixteen metre long striking feature wall and lighting installation, brought to life with vibrant, multi layered graphics, beautiful attributing features including custom made linen, antique Arnott’s tins and vessels spilling with bold primary coloured Australian native flowers.

Indigenous performers entertained guests against a backdrop of brilliant blue and award winning Australian pianist and composer, Jackson Harrison, performed throughout the evening.

Case Study: The Design Maketh the Marquee

The Collaborative rises to the challenge year after year, to transform a number of rather austere marquee settings into glamorous and grand arenas for corporate hospitality events, across both the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup race carnivals.

Tasked with a brief of creating an inviting and unexpected environment for guests we built an enviable vintage scene, drawing inspiration from all things antiquarian and equine.

The look was brought to life using French inspired loose weave hessian drapes, a palette of classic neutral tones, rustic ladders, wooden screens, eclectic installations of antique horse racing paraphernalia, vintage cloches and terrariums, custom designed horse silhouette upholstery and vintage inspired floral blooms.

Case Study: Romance and Decadence at the Swift Mansion

Offering guests a once in a lifetime experience, The Collaborative created a lavish and opulent signature event complementing the majesty of the Swifts Ballroom.

As guests enjoyed a delectable four-course degustation menu, designed by two hat chef Dean Sammut, the performance space came to life with Strings on Sydney, Australia’s Got Talents’ Tom Ward’s fast fingers and unique musical talent and Michael Falzon’s electric ‘Rock of The Ages’ inspired solo performance.
